Grumpiness to complicitness in the reading of two books!

Had the grumpiest toddler from collecting after work until bedtime stories. Tonight was Each Peach Pear Plum & the Gruffalo's child. My own child transformed into a regular little human and went to bed uncomplainingly and more importantly, to sleep! Love bedtime stories.

Always feel a bit of an eejit doing voices& roaring out the Big Bad Mouse at the end but there is no denying the kids prefer it. And then a book of i-spy... what could be better. "Why is Robin Hood firing arrows at the witch?" asks my 4yo. Em... because she was wicked. "What did she do?" Oh boy! Why, Mr & Mrs Ahlberg, was she wicked? She looks like Meg, quite a friendly witch really. Not of the "I'll get you my pretty, you and your little dog too!" *followed by scary laughter*. It's quite nice reading Each Peach Pear Plum now that Maia gets more of the references. I haven't introduced her to the Wizard of Oz. Not sure I want to traumatize her! Likewise the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! I think I am still a bit traumatised from that!!
